Mechanical Engineering Graduate
Oxford Fiber Ltd. is a small, high technology company, based in Rugby. We are deeply involved in connectivity of optical fiber and we are a world-leader in the design and manufacture of fiber optic connectors and fiber cleavers.
Our multi-fiber Cleaved-MPO connectors are world leading and we are seeking to develop and produce connectors at scale for sale in world markets. We require considerable input to achieve this task which will lead to fast growth and significant investment. Mechanical engineering is a crucial part of this development.
The employee will assist in the development and production of our primary products, gaining a deep insight into the technology. They will further professionalise existing products and will develop new products and processes in response to customer requirements.
The employee will work with optical measurement equipment, optical microscopy, laser processing, advanced packaging, etc. and will come to specialise in optical fibers, glass and crystal technology and plastic processing. There may be interaction with the University of Warwick and other research establishments.
The candidate will be happy carrying out development work in a small, focused development team.
The role will be multi-skilled. Familiarity with 3-D CAD design is essential. This opportunity will suit graduate mechanical engineers, material scientists, physicists or other technical disciplines. The candidate should be expecting to secure or hold a good degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar. We also welcome applicants who have studied for a higher degree.
The candidate will expect to work towards a further professional qualification such as Chartered Engineer.
The company is based in Rugby, close to the train station.

Working Hours:
8.30am – 4.45pm (including 45minutes lunch break) – or as agreed
